Millions of People are Killing Themselves to Be Healthy with these Vitamins

By  |

Did you know that over 97% of vitamins you are using have some bad ingredients in them? In fact, most of your vitamins are being produced by large pharmaceutical companies. The Pharma giant Wyeth, for example, makes Centrum and other supplements, and Bayer HealthCare of aspirin fame makes the One A Day line. Unilever, Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline and other big pharmaceutical firms also make or sell supplements.

Many popular supplement brands, in fact, contain artificial additives, synthetic flow agents, chemical colorings, and even imitation vitamin compounds that your body does not recognize and cannot fully process.

  • Many supplements, especially multi-vitamins, are derived from synthetically manufactured substances and not edible foods
  • Synthetic substances are typically not absorbed as well, and are sometimes even harmful if consumed in large quantities over time.
  • Long term epidemiological evidence increasingly suggests typical multinutritional vitamins don’t do much for your health
  • Supplements and pills derived from whole foods erase many (but not all) of the deficiencies of synthetic vitamins

Dangerous Ingredients in Supplements:

GMO’s in Supplements:

One of the most surprising, and problematic, aspects of vitamin supplements has to do with their inclusion of Genetically Modified Organisms or GMOs. Most vitamins are loaded with genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), aspartame, aluminum, petroleum-derived artificial colors, and all sorts of other toxic additives that are literally poisonous to humans, and especially to children. In addition to all the other problems associated with GMOs these are shown to kill your gut bacteria.

GMO Fillers(unless listed):

  • Modified food starch (corn)
  • Corn starch
  • Hydrogenated soybean oil
  • Maltodextrin
  • Soy lecithin
  • GMO fed pork / beef gelatin
  • Whey / egg white protein from GMO fed cattle / chickens
  • Natural flavoring
  • Citric acid
  • Lactic acid
  • Xanthan gum
  • Ascorbyl palmitate

More Toxic Ingredients to avoid:

Stearic Acid and Magnesium Stearate

Magnesium stearate is found in an estimated 90 percent of all vitamin supplements. Magnesium stearate is formed by adding a magnesium ion to stearic acid. The compound has lubricating properties, which is why it’s often used in the making of supplements, as it allows the machinery to run faster and smoother, and prevents the pills or capsules from sticking to each other.

A study published in Immunology found that stearic acid could suppress the activity of our natural killer cells, T cells, which could lead “to a loss of membrane potential and ultimately cell function and viability.” Another issue that has been raised in relation to magnesium stearate is the fact that the stearate is commonly sourced from hydrogenated oils such as cottonseed oil. This crop is oftentimes genetically engineered, but even when it’s not, cottonseed oil tends to have very high levels of pesticide residues.

Carrageenan

The Cornucopia Institute, a highly-effective food activism group recently published a warning about carrageenan in foods saying it is linked to “gastrointestinal inflammation, including higher rates of colon cancer, in laboratory animals.” And goes on to say, Given its effect on gastrointestinal inflammation, Cornucopia urges anyone suffering from gastrointestinal symptoms (irritable bowel syndrome/IBS, spastic colon, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic diarrhea, etc.) to consider completely eliminating carrageenan from the diet to determine if carrageenan was a factor in causing the symptoms.

Titanium dioxide

Titanium dioxide, is often used as a pigment in vitamins and supplements. The research is now showing that exposure to this metal (along with other metals) can lead to problems with the immune function in the body.

“Titanium dioxide has recently been classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as an IARC Group 2B carcinogen ‘possibly carcinogen[ic] to humans,’” explains the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health & Safety on its website.

“This evidence showed that high concentrations of pigment-grade (powdered) and ultrafine titanium dioxide dust caused respiratory tract cancer in rats exposed by inhalation and intratracheal instillation.”

Silicon dioxide

Common sand used as an expensive filler that makes the bottle weigh more with the hope that the uneducated consumer will equate weight with higher quality.

Artificial colors

Artificial colors have been linked to problems from cancer to hyperactivity in children. Many mega popular supplements such as the Pfizer-owned brand marketed as Centrum, contain toxic coloring agents like FD&C Blue No. 2 Aluminum Lake and FD&C Red No. 40 Aluminum Lake, both of which are potential neurotoxins.

Other fillers to avoid

Other fillers to avoid in supplements: Methylcellulose, carnauba wax, silica, sorbitol, benzoic acid, sodium benzoate, gums, plasdone products, povidone, starch (corn), Sodium Starch Glycolate, Talc, Pregelatinized Starch, Croscarmellose, (anything with propyl or ethyl) Hydroxy Propyl Cellulose, Ethylcellulose, Crospovidone, Shellac, Propylene glycol, sodium laurly sulfate, laureth sulfate, Potassium Sorbate, acrylamides, yeast extract, glaze,
